Solo and Co-op in Taming Defense
Play alone with a compact choke—or split roles with friends without breaking pet commands.
Taming Defense by BaseBuddies supports online play, so the same 365-day goal and Day 20 Lich schedule apply whether you solo or stack friends. Co-op is not a difficulty toggle—it is a coordination tax. Done well, it accelerates walls and tames. Done poorly, conflicting U Guard orders and oversized bases wipe the group faster than solo.
This guide compares solo and co-op priorities, recommends role splits, and explains how to share Gold, pets, and night duty without chaos.
What stays the same
- Survival target: 365 days (official Roblox description)
- The Lich from Day 20, every night after
- Currencies: Gold and Ruby (Gold and Ruby)
- Controls and pet keys: V/Q/T/U/Z, slots 1–6 (Controls)
- Codes still redeem once per account (Codes)
Co-op never removes dusk prep. Everyone still needs the Night Raids checklist.
Solo priorities
Solo runs favor compact bases. One choke, one Guard pet covering the gate, and short repair paths beat sprawling castles. You own every pet order—re-issue U yourself every sunset. Spend code Gold early on perimeter pieces; save Ruby until Best Pets makes sense.
Solo strengths: no conflicting commands, predictable night rhythm, smaller repair bills. Solo risks: no backup if you die mid-Lich; taming and building compete for the same daylight hours.
Co-op role splits that work
Agree roles before Day 5:
| Role | Focus | Keys / pages |
|---|---|---|
| Gate captain | Pet orders, night stand | V/U/T, Pet Commands |
| Builder | Walls, snap, repairs | M1/R/X, Base Building |
| Tamer | Daytime captures, food | F/G, How to Tame |
| Runner | Gather loops, code redeem | Codes, daytime routes |
Only one player should spam Guard on the shared roster. If two people press U on different pets toward different walls, the squad splits and nights collapse.
Sharing economy without waste
Gold spent twice on duplicate walls is wasted. Call purchases in chat: “buying gate kits” before anyone else opens the shop. Ruby pets should be a group vote after reading the Pet Tier List. Each account still redeems its own codes—stack free Gold across friends, then specialize spends.
Communication beats macros
Voice or clear text at dusk beats any unverified script. The Scripts Hub explains why executors risk bans; co-op discipline is the legitimate speedup. Use short calls: “Guard gate,” “repair left,” “Lich on choke.”
Private servers and public lobbies
Private servers help practice builds and pet drills without lobby noise. Public servers can offer pickup help but increase grief and order conflict. For Day 18–20 rehearsals, private + trusted friends is safer.
When to switch modes
Solo until you understand How to Play and one clean week of nights, then invite friends for the Day 11–19 build window. Bringing three unprepared players into Day 19 with an open base multiplies failure points.
Mixed platform groups
PC plus mobile parties work if the gate captain uses the clearer input method. Mobile friends can own gather routes and code redeem while a keyboard player handles U/T micro during Night Raids. Read Mobile Guide so touch players are not hunting menus at sunset. After patches, reconfirm roles—Update notes on Updates sometimes change spawn pressure even when controls stay the same.

Keep the squad honest: legitimate speed comes from codes, clear chokes, and Guard discipline—not from unverified executors listed as unsafe on the Scripts Hub.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is Taming Defense better solo or co-op?
Both work. Solo favors compact bases and clear pet ownership. Co-op is faster when roles are split and only one player issues Guard orders.
Can friends share promo codes?
Codes redeem once per Roblox account. Each player should join BaseBuddies and redeem their own strings from the Codes Hub.
Why do co-op nights fail more than solo?
Usually conflicting pet commands or oversized bases. Assign a gate captain and keep one choke.
Does co-op change when The Lich appears?
No. The Lich still begins on Day 20 and returns every night. Extra players only help if coordination is solid.
